“My transition from clinical medicine to psychology was not a gentle pivot. It came from a kick in the teeth — watching my brother navigate a mental health crisis and realising, with every failed intervention, that the system was treating symptoms rather than the person behind them.”
— Dr Anthony Ataekong
That experience — watching a family member struggle without adequate, culturally informed support — gave birth to AYAKA MMI: a dedicated psychosocial programme for individuals living with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, and for the carers and families who love them. AYAKA MMI exists because Dr Anthony knows, from the inside, what it costs a family when the mental health system sees a diagnosis rather than a human being.
Learn about AYAKA MMIChazon was founded on a belief that quality psychological care should not be a privilege. That the people who need it most — those facing racial discrimination, unemployment, cultural barriers, financial hardship — deserve the same clinical excellence as anyone else.
Dr Anthony built Chazon on a singular belief: that high-quality psychological care should be both clinically excellent and radically accessible. With a background spanning medicine, psychology, coaching, and mentoring, he brings an integrated approach that honours each person’s unique story.
That formative experience — sitting with his brother, watching professionals address the presenting crisis while the root cause remained untouched — became the foundation of everything Chazon stands for. Not symptom management. Not containment. Genuine transformation, built from understanding the whole person: their psychology, their culture, their history, and the structural pressures that shape their inner world.
His particular focus is ensuring that ethnic minority communities, young people, and those facing structural disadvantage receive psychological care that truly understands their context. Because access to quality mental health support should never depend on your circumstances.

We hold ourselves to the highest professional standards. BABCP-registered, evidence-based, and continually developing our clinical practice through supervision and CPD.
We recognise that culture profoundly shapes how people experience and express mental health. We don’t just tolerate difference — we centre it in our practice.
Our CIC structure exists for a reason. Private income directly funds free community work. Access to quality psychological care is not a luxury — it is a right.
We don’t aim for symptom management. We aim for lasting change — helping people move beyond coping into genuine healing, clarity, and self-expression.
As a CIC, our surplus is locked in for community benefit. We publish our impact and welcome scrutiny. Transparency is built into our legal structure, not bolted on.
We see every person whole — their psychology, culture, history, and aspirations. Therapy here doesn’t pathologise. It liberates.
